NARS Audacious Lipstick in Janet

I am a lipstick junkie and when NARS released their new audacious line I had to give it a try. I went for the color Janet, which is a deep magenta since I wanted a color I would wear often and this was similar to Mac Rebel which is my second most worn Mac color. I have worn this over the past few months, I can say it is my favorite lipstick formula and one I want to get more of at some point.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Janet

Let's break it down.

The formula is my favorite out of all the lipsticks I've tried. It feel like a velvety-cream on your lips, it doesn't settle in to the lines on my lips and it wears for hours before fading (we're taking six to seven hours for me), and it is opaque so you don't need to build layers. I find that most long wearing lip colors aren't the most comfortable to wear, but the audacious formula feels like soft and cream-like on the lips. I don't find this formula hydrating, but I also don't find it drying.

The packaging is stunning, like most of NARS' packaging. The tube is square shaped, demi-matte shine with the NARS logo wrapping around it. The packaging is also magnetic, which is great so if you throw it in your bag you won't lose the cap. Overall, I love sleek, dark packaging, so this is one of my favorites to look at.

The color Janet is gorgeous if you are into magenta-berry colors. This color is a blue based deep magenta. It is more pink and opaque than Mac Rebel or Urban Decay Venom and more purple than OCC Pretty Boy and lighter than OCC Strumpet. I think this color would be suited for most skin tones that are on the neutral to cool side. The finish is a demi-matte that has almost a subtle blue duo-chrome in some lights. There are forty shades in the Audacious line, so if Janet doesn't suit your fancy, I am sure you could find a shade you enjoy.

They are pretty pricey, at $32 a lipstick.  They are 4.2g, so the amount is pretty generous for a tube of lipstick. Considering wear time and opacity, meaning that less applied over time so it's not an unfair price, but still a splurge for me.

Overall I really like NARS Audacious lipstick in Janet and I plan to get more of the audacious line when I want to splurge on a super nice lipstick.

Have your tried the NARS Audacious lipsticks? What's your favorite lipstick formula? Let me know in the comments!
